A team of researchers at the university conducts statewide surveys at least twice a year to uncover what Tennesseans think about important public policy issues, with the focus of the Fall 2023 poll being on abortion, education, gun reform and state politics.

Horseshit. The reason very little legislation was passed to support gun control is because the lawmakers outside of blue cities know if they do pass it, their asses are serving their last terms. That's how much Tennesseans support gun 'reform'.
Ever notice how they never publish the actual questions from the poll they are referencing. Could it be because the question is ambiguous so that they can get more responses skewed toward the results they are looking for?
ReplyDeleteI never trust polls as they can be skewed.
ReplyDeleteYou can predict the answers to the poll by the source of the poll. Vanderbuilt says it all.
ReplyDeleteAs a constitutional republic , even the majority can that away the rights of the minority. At less on paper.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the backgrounds of the two Vanderbilt eggheads responsible for this poll, you'd see why they concluded "a full 80% of polled registered voters report that they are in favor of background check requirements" and that 3/4 of respondents are in favor of red flag laws.
ReplyDeleteThe man in charge of the poll is Senior Advisor to Vanderbilt Chancellor Daniel Diermeier, who was born in Germany and was formerly Provost of the University of Chicago at an annual salary of $997,412.
Nothing good ever comes from the University of Chicago.
"Nothing good ever comes from the University of Chicago."
DeleteWell....Not since Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell anyway.
And Amos Alonzo Stagg. Wko was Skull & Bones at Yale.
DeleteOnce again it must be pointed out that "polls" exist to form public opinions, not measure them.
ReplyDeleteI reckon the subject here is (some) pollsters are biased.
ReplyDeleteBig surprise. But every polltaker, i.e., statistician, has spent considerable time in being warned to set aside personal agenda.
Yet, still some persist.
Rising beyond pollsters is direct comms with politicians. Yeah, it sucks. Ya, they'll twist yer no into a yes and vice versa. Fuckers. What a waste of yer time. And that's what they want you to think so you'll lay off.
So what I did after year after year being dismissed and ignored by politicians; what I did was tell targeted politician I ain't voting for you. You had your chance but you played yer game. And I am gonna hustle every one I meet to not vote for you.
Via regular comms I informed; today I got two more. The next week I got 17. Then 80, then 200, then more and so on.
The result was one month after saying he's running for reelection, he said that he'd accepted a job in private industry. Mr. NRA A rating had dropped out.
Long comment, I hope y'all read. More importantly, I hope y'all get busy in yer own district. Do what I did. It works.
God ain't done with America. God bless the USA.
Vanderbilt, the university with a hospital maiming kids with pseudo-science transgenderism? Oh well then, of course their poll isn't biased and based on the narrative of WEF and WHO who provide them with gobs of money.
ReplyDeleteIt's been my observation that the Tennessee GOP Supermajority has spent the last fifteen years in a desperate attempt to avoid being pinned down on a recorded vote on anything with the slightest whiff of anything controversial.
ReplyDeleteThus, while they don't pass any "gun reform", they don't pass any "good" gun legislation either.
Why yes I support gun reform. Clean up the Tennessee laws that violate the 2nd Amendment and there are plenty. Starting with "intent to go armed". Then pass true Constitutional Carry. And next a perma ban on red flag laws. There.
