The lawsuit was filed in a Florida court, accusing the retailer of failing to take measures to keep customers and employees safe. It also accuses the parents of the suspected gunman, Ryan Christopher Palmeter, of failing to protect the public from "reasonably foreseeable criminal acts which were likely to be committed by their son."

Sorry, but I doubt Dollar General is any more 'negligent' than any other store as far as security goes, and how in the hell are parents responsible for their 21 year old adult son's decision?
It's all about the money Labowski and the American shyster system is making good use of the 35% of the award they rake in.
ReplyDeleteDey lookin for da BOOGALOO Lottery.
ReplyDeleteHey, I saw that tornados hit your state - you OK?

I agree with your assessment - it ain't the Dollar General. Shyster lawyers wanting a payday is more like it. The article reinforces that when they talk about the "Tops" shooting - same deal. Security guy died there - and likely would have in this story.
ReplyDeleteBlack parents ought to be very careful about setting precedent about being legally and financially responsible for the behavior of their children (at any age).
ReplyDeleteI can guess the race without reading the article....
ReplyDeleteLawsuits like these are called "nuisance suits". The goal is not to win in court but to force the victim of the suit to settle out of court rather than risk facing a brain dead jury. It's a very common practice for shitty shysters to try. He vast majority of civil suits have little to nothing to do with actual justice.
