Ford trims F-150 Lightning pickup production after weak electric vehicle sales

DETROIT (AP) - Ford is cutting production of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup after weaker-than-expected electric vehicle sales growth.

While EV sales are growing in the U.S., the pace is falling well short of the industry’s ambitious timetable and many consumers are turning to hybrid vehicles instead.

  1. I was talking to the local dealer about how well they sold before christmas. They had one on the floor no one wanted and sold two with less features as work trucks to a company that services wind turbines. The guys driving them hate them because they don't go a full day on a charge.. that was before winter showed up in force. 2 weeks ago in the cold snap they got 2 hrs of run time. Useless for a truck in Alberta.

    3. Thanks. I was wondering. When the EV makers talk about cold weather when it's just freezing and I woke the other morning within seeing distance of -40, it's bound to raise questions.

    4. Add a little sea water around the battery vent for extra conductivity

Did yall hear about a cargo ship transporting batteries that caught fire recently ?

    1. I'm thinking these might be the next candidates for a GM LS-swap, if we ever run out of Squarebody Chevies and GMCs.

  3. Another "Better Idea" from Ford. In Hell, McNamara smiles while Edsel
Ford no longer bears the brunt of an earlier RSM flubbed-dub..

  5. The rise in prices of gas trucks is correlated to the decline in demand for eclectic vehicles. CM lose somewhere around 30 grand for each electric vehicle they make. So they're trying to make up the loses by charging much more for gas powered trucks. The video is on this site, it was posted a couple days ago. https://www.youtube.com/@RayandZach -sammy
