  1. Heh, just had a couple of pork chops the "German Way". Seared in a hot pan then slathered with a rich mushroom gravy, simmered for a bit. Then mashed potatoes and corn on the side. Slopped the mushroom gravy on a mound of mashed potatoes. Cut the pork with a fork.
Oh my, oh my, oh my!!!! Thats good eats, right there!

  2. I can't beat Cowboy Kent on the grill, but I'm not grilling anything when the temp is 2. Above or below zero is just splitting hairs.
Last year I got a new-fangled air fryer for Christmas. It's great at cooking pork chops, even the 3/4 inch thick ones that Kent wouldn't touch! I never tried the really skinny ones. There are some drawbacks. The biggest is that they are small, so you can only cook for 2 to 4 people. But try making seasoned pork chops if you have an air fryer.

    1. We were below -40 this weekend. I declined to fire up the bbq at that temp. I did it at -5 but below that the fuel usage goes way up.

  4. I did pork chops on the Recteq pellet grill today. I seasoned them with Stripling's pork seasoning. I used the temp probes and threw them on the grill when it hit 500 degrees. I pulled them off when they hit 145 and let them set for 5 minutes. Full of flavor and juicy.

The Recteq swill smoke at low temps and cook at higher temps with a slight wood flavor. I have always had cheap charcoal or gas grills that had a 3 or 4 year lifespan the past 40 years. I have had this grill a month and used it about 10 times. It is well worth the price.

  6. My mother (rest her soul) taught me how to cook them stove top in her cast iron skillet which I have now. Dad taught me grilling and smoking. Fried, smoked, grilled...done correctly they're all good.
