HB2032 was filed by Rep. Jody Barrett (R-Dickson) on Tuesday. The legislation would “remove the offense of possessing a weapon in a building that prohibits or restricts weapons” – meaning those with enhanced carry permits would not be penalized for carrying.
I hope this passes but I do doubt it, this involves having too much common sense.
ReplyDeletePlease explain... is "enhanced carry" less infringed? Fuck that... the right to bear has no boundaries and shall not be infringed except by those who give up thier rights.
DeleteJust like in Animal Farm, some animals are more equal than others.
ReplyDeleteA poor idea. Not the intent, but the means. There should never be a tiered permit, period. Fix the bill to say "any permit or permitless carry" is not a crime. FIFY there, Tennessee!
ReplyDeleteTom762
There already IS a tiered permit: those for responsible gun owners who are told to follow whatever laws are made, and criminals, who can do whatever the F they want.
DeleteSo exactly what is an Enhanced Carry Permit?
ReplyDeleteIt's the original permit that was required a few years ago. One of the requirements was an 8 hour class and range time. With the Enhanced permit, you could open carry. Then they introduced a concealed carry permit that was available online, but didn't require the safety class and range time and you couldn't open carry. Then they went to permitless carry.
DeleteThe advantage to having an Enhanced permit is it's recognized in more States.
I have 3 thoughts. 1) If I am carrying concealed nobody is going to know in the first place. 2) I do respect provate property rights and if a business owner is asking me not to bring a gun on his property I respect that and take my business elsewhere. 3) The reality is the the second ammendment is a permit everyone in the US has so you should be good to go.
ReplyDeleteThere are ways to easily tell if your conceal carrying. I was watching a YouTube of a firearms instructor and he accidently highlighted how easy it is to spot. The method doesn't seem to have caught on.
DeleteThe trouble is, the people that are really good at spotting concealed carriers are also the ones that can arrest you for doing it in the wrong place.
DeleteMy understanding, in Ohio anyway, is that you have to be asked to leave before it becomes criminal trespass. But you are liable to civil laws.
DeleteA lot of the problem would be alleviated if Tennessee would get rid of their un-constitutional law that says it's a crime to carry a weapon "for the purpose of going armed."
ReplyDeleteDo what IN does, constitutional carry and no gun signs do not have the force of law. I have not seen a psycho free fire zone sign here in years. If you OC and cause a disturbance the owner can ask you to leave...just like any other issue then it's on you (but really everyone here carries and it's no big deal so it's probably not the gun that's getting you booted; be polite see the beginning of this sentence in parenthesis).
