“That’s my daughter! She means everything to me!”

WOOD RIVER, Ill. (KTVI) – Two men are recovering after shooting each other in Wood River, Illinois, early Tuesday morning after police said a father took matters into his own hands.

According to the Wood River Police Department, the shooting happened off North 6th Street, near Lewis and Clark Junior High School, after a woman showed up at her parents’ home around 2:30 a.m. She had been severely beaten, authorities said.

  1. I lived there as a child, walked to Lewis and Clark elementary school. Directly across the street from our home was a huge refinery complex. The air literally stank, and you could taste oil. The year I was born Mothers were recommended against breast feeding by the government because the area was toxic.

    Illinois is horrible.

  3. Did you read the stupid comments where people said he should have beat up this guy but not brought a gun??? Both men were shot!!! Doesn't that mean that the guy who beat up his daughter had a gun? Doesn't that mean that if you took that stupid advice and just tried to beat him up you would be dead? And worse the guy who beat up the daughter could claim self defense and get away with killing the dad. IMHO the only mistake the dad made was to not shoot him first.

    1. I'm willing to serve on the jury as well. It is my civic duty and I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

  8. I remember comedian Bill Engval talking about his daughter dating and telling the young swaid something along the lines of:

"You see, my daughter is the light of my life...so before you get any ideas about huggin' and kissin' her just remember this - I got no problem goin' back to prison!"
