The Making of a Constitutional Crisis

In the waning days of January, Texas governor Greg Abbott invoked his state’s “constitutional authority to defend itself” in an ongoing dispute with the Biden Administration over control of a park on the United States-Mexico border.

  1. Amazing how the border that wasn't an issue suddenly became a concern just in time for an election, along with all the stringent caveats to try to force others to go along with the solution that the current administration took an oath to uphold and only now wants to give it some attention.

  2. Just remember - you cannot have an invasion without the invaders having weapons BUT you can have an insurrection - an attempted overthrow of the government - without weapons. Another fine example of liberal logic (which is an oxymoron in itself).

  3. Equally amazing is how everyone (even the right) has adopted the left's terminology that this is a "constitutional crisis," while in fact the explicit powers Texas is pursuing is actually spelled out in the Constitution. But the real constitutional crisis is the executive branch of the government is refusing to execute the actual laws of the country.

    1. It's maddening, isn't it?
I see it as another proof that most people have little to none knowledge of the founding papers nor of constitutional law nor of state's rights.

This is especially troublesome since so many venues, such as Hillsdale or the Institute on the Constitution, offer free classes on the aforementioned.

Little knowledge because of little desire. So much falls on deaf ears.

  5. This is evidently another Abbott scam/photo op. The border is still wide open just a mile from where the razor wire is. Until this is really stopped I just don't know what to believe. Maybe another J6 deal or trying to push us into CW2?

If Abbott was serious about this it could be stopped. He could get 10,000 volunteers within 24hrs ready and willing.

    1. Research something before you comment, please. The Texas National Guard is at Shelby park to keep the Border Patrol out , preventing them from processing illegals there.

    3. And how many years of this invasion has it taken before he did more than just pay lip service to the "crisis". Abbot is just 2 years and 6 months late in acting.

The point is why only there?
This thing is publicized as if it were the entire TX border. I mean, a multi-state response, an international convoy, a call to action; yet only one small city park? But that is not true. Why isn't it, is the question.

    5. Anon@6:32 I would imagine they were using it as a processing station because it is on public property and fairly spacious. The only other spots available would be in town or on private property.
But why only at that area instead of all the processing stations? I haven't a clue.

    6. Shelby park is city, now state, property and under state jurisdiction. Outside of Shelby park the border is under federal jurisdiction. The state has no authority to seal it.
Jeebus, didn't any of you numbnuts learn civics in school?

    7. Steve P So the Constitutional right for Texas to protect its own border from an invasion only applies to local property and not the border? That makes no sense at all.

  6. The framing of this whole thing is bullshit.
Shelby park is state, not federal, land. The feds have no jurisdiction over it.
Abbott is exercising powers that are clearly enumerated in the Constitution.
The only "constitutional crisis" is the fact that the Biden regime is guilty of violation of the oath of office, dereliction of duty, violation of the Constitutional mandate to execute the laws of the nation, and is committing treason right out in the open, rubbing our noses in it, and no one is doing a damn thing about it.
