As Geico quietly cancels her car insurance...

A West Virginia woman was charged with animal cruelty after she placed a pet gecko into a garbage disposal and turned the appliance on during a violent confrontation yesterday with her boyfriend, police report. 

After receiving an anonymous 911 call about a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in Hurricane, a Charleston suburb, cops spoke with a man identified as a domestic battery victim in a criminal complaint.

    What strikes me as wrong is that she's up on felony charges for "disposing" of the gecko, but misdemeanor for assault and battery. Yes, animals deserve to be treated well when we agree to care for them, but in what universe do people put more value on a pet than another human being?
