Jury finds NRA liable for mismanagement, says Wayne LaPierre violated duties

After five days of deliberations, a jury in New York on Friday held the National Rifle Association liable for financial mismanagement and found that Wayne LaPierre, the group's former CEO, corruptly ran the nation's most prominent gun rights group.

LaPierre and a senior executive at the NRA must pay a combined $6.35 million "for abusing the system and breaking our laws," New York Attorney General Letitia James, whose office brought the lawsuit against the organization, said following the verdict.

  2. If there is a legitimate crime on the members of the nra , then the people harmed should get back their money , not the government.

    1. Yes, why isn't this between the NRA organization and LaPierre? Probably the "Honest Services Act," a catch-all law to be used on anybody TPTB wants to get. I still get American Rifleman, even though I haven't paid dues for several years. I kept writing "Not until WLP goes" or similar on the renewal forms. In the current issue of AR, there is a glowing self-tribute to Wayne on page 12.

    2. You and me both. The only thing I add is that the whole board needs to resign for allowing La Pee Aire to get away with his grift.

  5. I thought he violated his duty to the NRA by still having it based in New York. When all the gun manufacturers were starting to look to get out if he was doing his job he should have been saying we need to leave also

  6. The surprise is that a jury took five days to vote to convict.
Looks like Letitia and company can't pick juries either.
