‘Thoughts and Prayers Tax’ bill filed in Tennessee legislature

One Tennessee Democratic lawmaker is hoping to bring about change in gun laws in the state by way of a new tax on the sale of firearms.

Rep. Bo Mitchell (D-Nashville) filed HB 2193, which would impose a new 15% tax on the retail sale of all firearms in Tennessee. That revenue would then be put into a fund to be used by the Tennessee Department of Education exclusively for the purpose of staffing school counselors in elementary and secondary schools.

  5. That whole article regurgitates all the baseless lies about guns, voters, and the real root causes of the problem, which all relate to Democrat creation and perpetuation of the Welfare Class, the demise of the non-nuclear family, and uncheck illegal immigration.

  6. Sounds constitutional to me, just as a tax on newspapers would be.

  7. More money. Any way to get more money.
We must be talking democrats here.
Don't be surprised if you get a new "the sun came up today" tax, because we all know that without the almighty democrats and the almighty Pedophile Of The United States the sun would have stayed away.

  8. That revenue would be better used educating students about gun safety and setting up skeet shooting events for them.

  9. And WA state is attempting to implement 11% sales tax on ammo. Sad what’s happened to that state since it got californicated. Scoop Jackson must be rolling in his grave.

  10. I predict an increase in gun sales in surrounding states.

And trying to price out the ability to exercise a Constitutional right with taxes is also unConstitutional. Sue'em Tennessee.
