Yet San Francisco continues its much-publicized and self-inflicted doom loop. The productive classes still flee the increasingly crime-ridden city and its self-induced pathologies. The city is eroding not because of the doomsayers and not because of what people say about San Francisco, but because of what San Franciscans have done to San Francisco.
In 2023, more than 40,000 crimes were reportedly committed in San Francisco. The great majority of the perpetrators were either not arrested or never jailed, indicted, or convicted.
'Equity': the requirement to have at least ONE thug for each responsible citizen.
ReplyDeleteLeftists are bullies. They don't care what they do or don’t believe. Their job is simply to make you bend your knee and kowtow to their demands. Because so many parents today and over the last 50 years have pandered to their kids by not instilling responsibility and allow the unsocialized brats to run amok we got several generations of mega bullies.

ReplyDeleteOn an automotive site, during a discussion of the Waymo car that was mobbed and set on fire, I mentioned that there is so much car crime in SFO so often that the incident might have happened to any car. I was instantly called a far-right nut and that crime in SFO is lower than other cities and falling. There was quite a pile-on. It was also suggested that I wanted to put all the homeless in concentration camps - and I hadn't even mentioned the homeless problem.

Too late. Our money has been devalued, the military neutered, basic norms of society turned upside down. I give us another 10 or 20 years . . . if we're lucky.
