#9 A friend was at Ft Hood during the Cuban Missile Crisis. They had to load tanks onto railroad flat cars for shipment. Many of the flat cars were old and rotted. They'd hold a lot of weight, but not a tank. After a couple of failures that required breaking the train and pulling the damaged cars out of the way, they lined them up and started a tank at the back and drove it to the front. They stationed a crane by the track and when a car failed, the tank would proceed to the next flatbed and the damaged one was simply tipped over to the side. The crane followed the tank to the front. When the tank made it to the front, the rest of the tanks were loaded the same way.
