The Imagine Nashville survey claimed that 74 percent of Nashville residents strongly agree with the city spending additional money on public transportation. The pollsters further claimed that 33 percent of respondents cited a lack of public transportation as an issue the city needs to improve.
That 74 percent are the reason that decent people avoid public transportation like the plague.
ReplyDeleteSomething we looked for before buying was being one county out from any public transportation
ReplyDeleteah. got to get the goodies to the unions before elections season to make sure the "Right" pols are elected.
ReplyDeleteAt first, when I was in the low single digits, Atlanta had street cars on rails, then we had electric "trackless trollies", then came MARTA. In the sixties? Trains on tracks. As it expanded, everywhere it went, destruction followed. Luxury malls became cruising grounds for people "not like me." Be prepared. It will be done whether you want it or not.
ReplyDeleteMost of the old shopping malls in Raleigh NC were destroyed by CAT buses. Trouble soon replaced paying customers
DeleteSample long and hard enough and you will always get the result you want.
ReplyDeleteThat story encapsulates what is wrong with American government.
ReplyDeleteSo very true.
DeleteWe don't need more public transit to transport poor people. We need more horse & buggies to get them to the welfare office.
ReplyDeleteYou should get fired from your job as mayor for pulling shit like that. Its called LYING, not greater insight.
ReplyDeleteAnd the mayor hasn't even started the bid-rigging yet.
Deletei haven't rode a buss since the 70's. but it was a cool way for my buddies and me to get out and see the town ( las vegas) before we got out drivers licenses, we could get out and terrorize the the whole town for .25 cents then with the transfers. we had fun and the drivers were cool as hell to us.
ReplyDeleteLook at the DC area Metro: It costs more per passenger mile than flying commercial airlines.
ReplyDeleteMass/Public transit is a fantastic vehicle for graft and corruption. Not only do we get Unionize government employees, but we also get favoured Minority set-asides, no-bid contracts to campaign donors, political appointments to supervisory boards, municipal property sold to retired politicians that's later condemned under imminent domain, and ever-increasing needs for revenue to subsidize all of the above. Oh, yeah; and the easy access and egress for the criminal class to access, (untraced) the better neighborhoods.
California's Bullet Train also comes to mind...
When I lived in NH I took the public transit almost everyday to work and back. No negroids so it was always a joy especially in the winter. Once in a while the homeless would get on and ride for a block or two then want to get off. Pretty much everyone on the bus would voice their disdain for the lazy slobs. -sammy
ReplyDeleteStarker here,
ReplyDeleteWe have mt. I wanted to use it get to work. Getting to work 45 min early or 30 late was bad enough. But I would have to leave work 2 hours early because they stopped the run after the community college let out. Even though I wasn't near the cc. Where I could use the bus it would take over an hour for a 15-20 min drive, that doesn't include the waiting time. When I was young I took the bus to visit my girlfriend at college. I stayed too late on a Sunday and had to walk an extra 7 miles making it 10 miles in the snow. On the plus my son was able to use it to go to cc.
