So much for those hopes and dreams

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Middle Tennessee entrepreneur said he’s having to close up shop after opening his food truck in Portland less than three months ago.

Maged Gad, who goes by MG, opened up Gyro Station with his business partner back in December, hoping to share his culture with the City of Portland. MG moved to the states from Egypt nine years ago.

“We had big dreams that start with the Greek food, then Egyptian food, and then go from there, introduce everything about the culture and the people of our country that maybe most people here doesn’t hear about,” MG said.

  2. Welcome to progressive California North land where druggie bums and bumettes can camp out overnight under garbage bags shootin' up and snorting on the main drag, but an honest, independent dude trying to eke out a living gets bureaucratic crushed. Hint, Commies don't like capitalists. They only like the parasite peasants who they create and then control.

  3. You are doomed from the start if your business plan is to move to portland. Sounds like they are trying to protect the brick and mortar stores but why. They are all closing shop due to the homeless taking over.

  5. Guess he should have attended the City Council meeting and spoke out in opposition to the ordinance.

  6. He opens up his food truck and the city council passes an ordinance to make it impossible for him to operate.

  7. Not a word about his status. The crimmigrants can't work without a permit, a govt. EAD. Their only choice is to work under the table on a cash basis, or to start their own business.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he's just another illegal. Go home crimmigrants. Take your halal with you too.

  8. If you haven't figured it out yet, government ONLY EXISTS to protect the financial interests of those who donate to their campaigns, deliver high tax returns to the city, etc. In this case, its the local restaurants (brick and mortar).

  10. the ordnance in question said the food trucks have to move every night. The owner of the food truck had rented space in a parking lot and the food truck is mobile . Were it me , I would move it to the other side of the parking lot each day. the ordnance doesn't say how far you have to go now does it ? Fuck off ,I moved it !
