MONTEZUMA, N.Y. — A Montezuma woman was arrested Wednesday for reportedly "testing" the 988 National Suicide Prevention Hotline. 

Cayuga County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home in Montezuma at approximately 5:33 a.m. for a reported suicidal person. The National Suicide Prevention Hotline told deputies that someone was texting 988 indicating they had a gun and they were going to commit suicide with it.

    So, no difference between dialing "911" and "988"?
    Surprised to read woman was not shot for possibly possessing firearm in own home.
