KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) — It’s an act of kindness that cleared away a cloud of grief, crossing state lines. A North Carolina restaurant owner drove six hours to deliver what ended up being the last meal for a woman on her death bed.
when my dad was in hospice, he asked for a steak and cheese from this hole in the wall pizza place he would go to every tuesday when my mom went to play bingo.
they all knew him there..he was HDOM (Harmless Dirty Old Man) and used to tel lthe girls how if he was a younger man he'd be chasing them all around the tables. they'd laugh. they knew he was harmless.
I was waiting for them to make it when I got the call.
when we had the wake they shut down the place for an hour so all the people who worked there could show up.
