We're using the term 'father' loosely here
A 26-year-old father in Indiana was sentenced last week after admitting to biting his newborn daughter multiple times, leaving “mouth-shaped bruises” and teeth marks all over the infant’s body. Boone County Circuit Court Judge Lori N. Schein on Thursday sentenced Gavan Rogers to three years at the Indiana Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to one count of felony domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age, court documents reviewed by Law&Crime show.

DeleteI'm a firm believer the term father or mother is earned, not a given. Same as the word parent. Parents, fathers and mothers offer, love, care, guidance, support, disapline, redirection, teach, nurture and the list goes on. If a person does none of these things they are nothing but a sperm donor, at least to me. Those that abuse, belittle, totally ignore and in general treat the child they helped create like a piece of shit do not have the honor of those titles. When you see a kid running through the store screaming, knocking shit off shelves, telling the adults with them no and getting away with it. That certainly isn't a parent. It's an adult that happens to have kid.

ReplyDeleteThis dude got off way too light. The baby should have a protective order, that THING of a "father" should never have contact again. He obviously has it in his head the child has wronged him somehow.

ReplyDeleteJust about every man can donate sperm and "father" a child, sadly. But the distance, if you will; between "fathering" a child and being a "dad" or a "papa" is greater than the earth to the sun.
