The standard gold ingot weighs about 27 pounds. That guy (Large African Lion Ingot ?) - 551 lbs. Chuck Norris could probably carry one in each arm as he walks into the sunset ...
Not sure about the Large African Lion, it has the Mitsubishi Diamond-Star logo. Besides building cars and airplanes, Mitsubishi also refines precious metals. In Feng Shui, if you display gold in the wealth corner of your home it will bring you energy and prosperity so some Chinese corporations display ostentatious gold objects. Of course someone is counterfeiting gold bars - https://testyourgold.com/chinese-gold-tungsten-counterfeiting-factory/ Al_in_Ottawa
Counterfeit gold coins from China became such a problem on Ebay that they ended up requiring certification on all PM coins. No stretch to assume same with bullion. CC
In a prior job i had to go visit one of our suppliers, a company that was a refiner of various precious metals, mostly platinum group metals but they did a bit of gold. During the tour, the manager stuck a gold bar in my hands (yes, it was big enough I had to use both hands), pulled out his calculator and told me I was holding about 5 million bucks. That was when gold was about $1100/oz.

According to my calculations, spot price on that thing is 18.8 million smackers.
ReplyDeleteAt current prices, that's a $19 million bar of gold. Someone somewhere has plans...
