ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WWSB) - An off-duty St. Pete Beach Fire Chief was arrested for allegedly assaulting a bicyclist after running him off the roadway, according to Pinellas County deputies.
Thomas McClave, 55, was driving behind a 58-year-old bicyclist in his pickup by the shared bicycle and vehicle lane Thursday afternoon on Gulf Boulevard.
There should be a law that bicycles as an unlicensed conveyance on public roads, MUST YIELD RIGHT OF WAY to all vehicles and pedestrians. Punishable by confiscation of bicycle and $1000 fine per offense.
ReplyDeleteStop giving those assholes special privileges.
You want everyone to yield to you, you must be important.
DeleteAnon 9:17, you're reasonably poor at reading comprehension. He did not say he wanted the world to yield to him. He did say he wanted bicyclists to yield to everyone else. Frankly, making the bicyclists yield makes perfect sense. When they can't get within 20mph of the speed limit, they should yield to people behind them. But they won't. They're a bunch of narcists that have zero comprehension of common courtesy.
DeleteBicyclists - people who think that their recreation trumps everyone else’s safety. Too fast for pedestrians, too slow for automobiles, too arrogant to follow the rules. At least, that’s been my experience. Just today, I came area curve at 35 mph and there were a couple of spandex-clad cyclists, side by side, taking up the whole lane. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting them. This is not an uncommon occurrence. I would be more ok with it if they acted with a little humility and common courtesy, but they rarely do.
DeleteOf the 1000s of bicyclists that I've encountered on the road, a total of 3 of them have had more than a two year old's view of the word "share". To the vast majority of bicyclists on the road, share means they get to hog it.
ReplyDeletePass them at 20-25 mph in 2nd gear. Just before you get to them shift to 4th and roll coal. Breath deep assholes
ReplyDeleteBackwoods Okie
I bet the cyclist votes Democrat
ReplyDeleteI once was a bicyclist 'til my knees gave out but I knew the road was really for cars and stayed out of their way. I think I may be the only one.
ReplyDeleteF the spandex mafia. Roads are for cars.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to have trouble in our neck. Dumbasses don’t have enough sense to stay off the roads in bad weather. Get their asses splattered. Doctors and professors and such.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't like them
ReplyDeleteI think it’s that tight spandex rubbing against those super long and narrow bicycle seats that put them into that blinded oblivious sensory trance state ….oh my….can’t wait to get to the fern bar…
ReplyDeletePut me on the jury....NOT GUILTY!
