The Social Security Administration is poised to bring in new rules which will make it easier for qualifying Americans to access certain benefits - and increase payments for some.

  2. At my age it ain't a big deal, but if you are just getting’ on the SS train you better realize it's gonna run out of gas before you're scheduled to arrive in Valhalla.

  4. Didn't SSI used to be called welfare until SocSec took over the administration of it? SSD was disability if you paid enough in. Maybe I'm just confused with all the fucking acronyms being used anymore.

  5. I don't think you need to be eligible for social security to get SSI, just have a condition that fits the rules....

  7. I am on SSD, after paying into the system for about 45 years. I don't feel bad about it.
Also remember that my employer paid the same amount that I did. So when I get paid each month a fairly significant amount, it just reminds me of all the times I spent12 hours at work, sometimes for months at a time, and often through the weekend.
As far as SSI, I figure that if our government can send billions to foreign nations, that often is simply laundered and given to the politicians, then they can damn well help our own citizens with a few dollars a month.

  8. Bogsidebunny ...yeah, Gen-x and the generations following them have known that they would never get a chance to benefit from the Ponzi scheme for decades at this point. Not news to them. Like young Roman citizens knowing that their ancestral Roman citizenship meant nothing anymore, after Caracalla made everyone citizens.
