The Californication of Nashville

Nashville residents say they are increasingly struggling to afford a home as an influx of out-of-state buyers drive real estate prices up, leaving many with no where to go.

Rates of chronic homelessness in the Tennessee capital have soared 77 percent this year, according to the city's official stats.

  1. Same shit here in western North Carolina. Retired professionals are flocking out of the north-east progressive states. Asheville has always been a progressive place but in the last 10 years the entire area has exploded with high priced gated communities. Conservative farmers are retiring and their kids don't want to deal with the 12 hour 365 days sell for prices they couldn't have imagined 10 or 15 years ago. You can diagnose the social cancer and you can "live in hope", but you can't stop it.

    2. I moved from SC to WNC about 2 hrs south of liberal idiot Asheville. We are happy with local politics, don't want to change anything, shoot guns on our land and off our porch. Can't see our neighbors, they can't see us. Life is good.

  2. That’s nothing, take a look at Colorado. You can’t rent anything for under 2000 in Denver. As a matter fact, my mortgage payment just went up another $300 because of how much it’s worth now. Close to $1 million.

  3. Sigh....I'm gettin' really tired of these stories. WAHAHHAHAHHA The place that you moved to is starting to get more pricy....Yeah so what? If "you " would have fought off the progressive leftist agenda BETTER, then you wouldn't have had to move.

    1. Good idea, Steve. But, exactly HOW do we do that? Shxxt on sight? Vote moar harder? Refuse to sell to come-from-aways? Its the people not moving from Kali or DC or wherever, that cant afford shite now, it's the locals being slowly squeezed out. I can't afford the house I currently own, were I required to replace it without a giant downpayment.

Sorry for rant. All the radio ads for real estate are about how "we got $100K above asking. Call Dewey Cheatum & How when you're ready to sell!". Everybody has their price, but where does it end?

  4. Because you've been so successful at fighting off the progressive leftist agenda where you live, Steve?
Where do you live, in a cave?

  5. Yeah, Steve, but the problem is that theyusually bring their shitty ideas(that caused their original problems wher they came from) along with them when they move. . . You can't fix stupid.

  6. I moved from So. Cal. to the Free State of Tennessee, where you can buy a gun at a yard sale.
The building codes are so strict in our county, you can build yer house out of pallets or scrap wood. When I go to the VA in Nashville, I see a lot more beggars now than I did 9 years ago. Our county Mounties are NOT into revenue enhancement against the locals. Several big city cops have gotten on the force here, They tell me they are SO happy to get a job in "Mayberry". Big hit in pay, big pay off in quality of life. The cheap gas in town this morning was $2.89 for reg. Down at the freeway it's $3.35. Costs $27 to register my pick up or Ford Focus, or F-350 Ford.
