The most powerful Republican in the Tennessee House says tougher gun laws likely would not have prevented the mass shooting in Orange Mound. Speaker Cameron Sexton visited Memphis on Friday, defending open carry and the new law that lets teachers carry guns in the classroom.
Governor Bill Lee signed the arming teachers bill into law on Friday, and it takes effect immediately. Speaker Sexton says it’s one more tool in the box to help school districts keep students safe.
