A failure of democracy? I do not think that word means what you think it means. The election of county sheriffs is the purest form of democracy in the US - only the people affected get to vote.
ReplyDeleteI think some of the difference could be that in a county that has city and/or county police, the Sheriffs Dept. serves most of the arrest warrants. Those tend to devolve into gunfire more than most day to day interactions with the city popo. Some of this could be cherry picking statistics or just general ignorance of how things work, sort of like asking for more gun laws that duplicate what is already on the books.

ReplyDeleteour county LEO's are the only thing standing between us and the crooked FBI the ATF and the DOJ. the local sheriff depts have more say than either of the first two .the feds have to get permission from the county Sherriff as how to proceed with an investigation, vote wisely, they are the only thing between us and the gov. and unless they are corrupt they will protect us, if the feds show up at your house without a county Marshall with them they they are in violation of your constitutional rights.. few people know this.

Here in Riverside County, CA we're fortunate to have what I think is the best sheriff in America, Chad Bianco. He recently cut a youtube video saying it's high time we elected a felon as President..Donald Trump! He gets the job done and doesn't take shit from Newsom!
