If you ever use a firearm to defend yourself or anyone else, even if you just display your weapon without firing a shot, you should still call the cops. There's are terms that usually apply to the first and second parties that the cops have to talk to involving any use of firearms.
The first person is normally called the "victim" and their story is first explanation heard. The second person is most often referred to as "defendant". Unfortunate but true.
Just deleted my whole comment after realizing that 1. The father caught the driver IN THE ACT of raping his daughter. No sane jury would convict the father of anything. But given it's coastal Washington state? Yeah. 2. His daughter was drunk/intoxicated/ otherwise incapacitated. 3. the article doesn't mention the perp's name or race. 4. The perp was hospitalized. 5. The father apparently only fired two rounds.
The fact the article doesn't mention his race/name says (given MSM biases) that he's an illegal/Amish/muslim/etc. Given that, and that it's a coastal Washington county, there's essentially zero chance that the perp will be jailed for more than a month, and every chance the father will be charged, convicted, and jailed for years.
If you're going to go to the pen, might as well make it worth your time. Should've fired another few shots to make sure the perp didn't make it. Maybe get a .22, that way it takes so many shots to stop a dude that he's more likely to bleed out before EMTs get there.
I also hope it wasn't the father who called the incident in. Wait a bit, give'em some time to finish bleeding.
He done what I would have done except I'm thinking my aim would be better and when in doubt I empty the magazine.

DeleteDo you work in law enforcement?
Keep firing until the target changes shape or starts burning
DeleteThe father needs more target practice.
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to go with good shoot (and legal) based on the information provided. What will WA do?

Yep. Happened to me. Target called 911 first. Cost me $30k before charges were dropped (and the target later arrested)
DeleteThe Dad should have used a revolver.
