Sale Of Over 1,000 Kamikaze Drones To Taiwan Points To Grand “Hellscape” Counter-China Plans

The U.S. government has approved the potential sale of over a thousand loitering munitions, also known as kamikaze drones, a mix of Switchblade 300 and ALTIUS 600M types, both of which have been used in combat in Ukraine, to the Taiwanese armed forces. Large numbers of relatively cheap kamikaze drones would give Taiwan extremely valuable additional capacity to attack Chinese forces during any future conflict across the Taiwan Strait. In particular, the loitering munitions could be used to engage warships in the strait, and especially incoming Chinese landing craft, in response to an amphibious invasion. Altius 600s could also be used to deploy resilient mesh sensor networks over large portions of the strait, which could drastically enhance the targeting efficiency for other Taiwanese weaponry and overall situational awareness.

  1. This doesn't exactly calm my fears that we are heading full speed into WWIII. Most young men are cut out of the economy and locked out of the dating market and don't see what it is they would be defending if the join the Military. Furthermore - go talk to some of the regular enlisted men who have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan and find out what they think about our "leadership". A friend of mine got sent to Afghanistan a few months out of Army Basic with one stripe, an MOS of "infantry" and a rifle. He knows more about what is really going on than anyone I've met or seen on TV. We are heading for a disaster.

    1. Most Americans couldn't find Taiwan on a blank map, and probably not even China either. And nobody gave a damn about Hong Kong either so I doubt they'd care a bit about Taiwan.

And given the US Fed govt. despises white males I fail to see why any would join the military to be killed off or maimed in some faraway land. If anything our military age men should be shelling and marching on DC. We need to conquer and defeat the near enemy before we can defeat any foreign one.

    2. Wooo, scary.
What is population of mainland China?
How many personnel does mainland China army have?
How are they going to share out those 1000 "suicide", " kamikazi" drones? After they have flown the 110 miles of sea separation.
How many "suicide" missiles does mainland China have.
How many " suicide" personnel have crossed the southern , Mexican, border?

    3. It doesn't matter how many fighters there are in the PLA, it matters how many are in the landing craft you sink with a drone a couple of miles off shore of Taiwan, no need to go all 110 miles back to the mainland.

Germany didn't have radar coverage of the English Channel, so the armada coming from England was a total surprise. Not so now unless PLA commandos can disable the radar monitoring the strait even before the invasion flotilla leaves port (and that will be a Clue something is up).

  2. If not China, Taiwan seems to manufacturer most of our electronics; so we're paying them and then "selling" back a "system"?

  3. The same ones that don't work for squat per a Wall Street Journal article last week? Apparently the UKEs don't like the US made drones as they suck against Russian ECM. They were going through drones at around 10,000 per month. That's quite a few.
