So much for that shiny badge

A Michigan State Police trooper is charged with murdering a man he struck with an unmarked SUV in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant.

Officials said Detective Sgt. Brian Keely, 50, of Grand Rapids, was part of a fugitive task force trying to take Samuel Sterling into custody on April 17, 2024.

I can't find anything that says what he was wanted for other than multiple warrants or felony warrants.

  1. I think we need more information. Did the LEO try to knock him off his feet and he wanged his head and died?

Or did LEO accelerate and smash the perp into a wall?

  2. Looks like the P.D. motto, "To protect & serve" shifted over to "Piss me off, pay the price". These things happen.

  3. Wait! He had a badge! I thought that meant the dept would send him home for several weeks, with pay, then conduct an internal investigation which would determine that although he violated procedures he didn't commit any crime. He'd then gracefully resign, pension intact, and quietly get a job with the PD in the next town over. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

  4. if you have any questions about the Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel who charged Detective Sgt. Brian Keely with second-degree murder, here's another headline:
"Trump calls Dana Nessel the ‘Wacky Do Nothing Attorney General of Michigan.'"
Please remember: we're talking about Michigan: plus Detective Sgt. Brian Keely is white and the fugitive, Samuel Sterling, is black.

  6. That very same day another White man , 17 years old was also killed by another policeman in Michigan. But there were no charges brought against the cop for murder. The other man was black, that’s why the murder charges against the trooper. Both of these men were murdered by police vehicles.

  8. ...and the cops STILL haven't gotten the message and they won't until a whole bunch of them do some serious time in jail playing hide the salami with Bubba and his fellow felons.

  9. according to news link, on probation - not checking in, felon, felon with firearms, etc...https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2024/05/10/mother-feeling-hurtful-sad-after-viewing-video-state-police-vehicle-sons-death/73644189007/

  10. BTW: I'm certain it's impermissible, but, just out of curiosity, did the hospital run a drug tesst on the perp's blood?

  11. This was apparently a joint FED and Local (city & state) operation who were searching for the deceased on multiple felony warrants, there is agency released video compilation from body cam of some pursuing officers but nothing from the vehicle or officer that struck the deceased. Get ready for this to be the theme of this summer...
