The perfect gift for the leftists in your life

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that Snapchill LLC out of Green Bay, WI, is recalling all canned coffee products out of concern the company’s current manufacturing process could lead to the growth and production of botulinum toxin, a deadly toxin. The company failed to file its process for manufacturing with the FDA.

    I retired after 40+ years in manufacturing. Manufacturing has industry standards which are voluntary, such as ISO9000/AS9100. However, all Food, Pharmaceuticals, and Cosmetics fall under the FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). GMP is not voluntary, like the rest of the manufacturing industry. GMP are federal regulations. They must be followed.

    No illnesses reported. What I get is the recall is because the company did not file with the FDA.

    Another example of the tyranny of the FDA. There's thousands of practices that are just fine, that are still forbidden. In this case, it looks like they just failed to follow the paperwork.

    Why? This is coffee, which is very acidic. botulinum can't grow in acidic environments - that's why it's fine to use water bath canning for peaches, apricots, applesauce, and anything else that's even mildly tart, but you need to use pressure canning for meat and vegetables. Water bath canning doesn't get hot enough to destroy the spores, but pressure canning does.

    So NO, there's NOT any chance at all that this is actually a health hazard. Certainly not or the "reason" the FDA listed anyway. It's yet another example of pointless bureaucratic rules destroying a small business.

    I've pretty much removed all the leftist I've known after Jan 6th, there weren't many of them but why deal with their BS if you aren't getting paid for it
