Was the 1911 an emotional support totem or a viable combat weapon? Or both? American soldiers had a bit different take on handguns than soldiers of many other armies, and I think it stems from the American identity with the frontier - the Wild West was well within memory for many people when World War Two broke out. So today, let's look at the American take on handguns during that war...
That was interesting
ReplyDeletewell, the 1911 I was issued back in the 101st was worthless. it was a worn out ww2 weapon
ReplyDeletethat you couldn't hit anything with. tried replacing the barrel bushing before going to the range really made it come "close" sort of. some guys used wheel bearing grease on the barrel to help them out, but still. hitting a man size target at 25 yards was iffy at best.
picked up a Browning HP in 9mm and you could hit the target with it.
one problem ,sometimes it would "bite" my hand if I didn't watch it
had a cheap shoulder holster I got from somewhere and used to carry it UNDER my shirt
getting ammo was a bitch sometimes, but it always worked well with ball ammo.
now the 1911 I own now are very accurate at 25 yards. but they are newer well made guns.
Personally, I hate video. Ones like this in particular. The video feed is meaningless - dude just sits there and talks the whole damn time. The complete and utter waste of good bandwidth for pointless moving pictures that add NOTHING to comprehension really offends me.
ReplyDeleteDo a podcast, for crying out loud!
Or better yet, write an article! It's not that hard, and saves me a whole bunch of time while increasing comprehension. And using 1/1Mth the bandwidth. And far less of my time. And I can pause reading a crapton easier. And it doesn't distract the kids from their games and attract them all to attempt to watch over my shoulder. And... Well, I think that there horse is dead.
No way I'm going to watch this pointless video. An article? Maybe. Video? Frankly, stick it up sideways.
Eh, probably just me. The younger generation seems to really get off on that crap. Good for him for putting in out in a format that appeals to gen Xers? Eh, seems like I'm especially grumpy tonight.
So don't watch the video if you don't like them. Personally I enjoyed it.
DeleteI'm sure that if you email Kenny he'd be more than happy to cater to you and you alone.
I'm with you. The way this clown presents subjects and his delivery and voice make him unwatchable for me. Talk is fine if relevant pictures and videos are included, but in the case of this dork, I can't imagine any way he could be watchable.
ReplyDeleteI prefer exercising my reading comprehension rather than watch a video, but since illiteracy seems to be the direction we're pointing...
