Vacation time!

That's right, it's time for my vacation. Long-time readers know I usually take a couple weeks off during the year, the week of the 4th and my birthday, and the week of Christmas and New Year.
This year, it's kinda fucked up because the 4th falls on Thursday and my birthday is on Sunday, so what I'm going to do is to post for the 4th because I usually schedule ahead anyway, then take Friday and all of next week off.

Don't worry about your Friday posts, though. You'll get the full compliment of posts on Thursday, everything from a whole mess of White wimmens for starters to your regular Friday political memes to some hottie shaking something to wrap it up.

So yeah, I'll be off on the 5th and should be back on the 15th provided I don't break a hip or die of old age before then, which is a very good possibility seeing as I'm turning 65 (!) this year, making me officially elderly and frail. Which reminds me, I need to start bulk shopping for Geritol and stool softener. And Depends - can't forget the Depends.

  10. Well, since the cat is out of the bag, I reckon I'll go ahead and wish you a Happy 65th now and get it out of the way. Happy Birthday, Friend, and don't forget the Meta Mucil.

BTW, it's noon here at 1900' elevation in the Sierra Foothills and it's already 100°. Good thing it's a dry heat.

  26. Don't forget to sign up for Medicare. I did and almost got fined for it. It's against the law to not accept your govt's "gifts".

    1. How could I forget? About 4 months back, my phone started ringing off the hook from insurance brokers trying to sign me up. I went ahead and enrolled thinking it would end all the calls, but now I'm getting at least a couple calls a day from Medicare reps wanting to explain all my 'free' benefits - you know, the ones that's costing me over a hundred bucks a month?

    2. Avoid the advantage plans, as, although they're low cost or 'free', you are the product. A type 'G' plan is the best. You won't have to pay for anything, ever, with one of those. I hope you and Lisa have a terrific, joyful, relaxing, and re-charging vacation. Bon Voyage !

    3. If you are straight A/B/D you can get a supplement to cover everything (except drugs) after the deductible. I found Farm Bureau to have the best prices on the coverage, but that may have changed over the years since we made the change. I think they have a Part D provider as well.

  43. KMLA can't be a five minute job: enjoy your holiday, forget the hard work and you'll come back as fresh as a 65 year old daisy. Five minute jobs, by the way, now you're old, will take two hours and two days' recovery time . . .

  46. Happy Birthday and enjoy your time off. I will have to warn my wife to ignore the quivering mass of protoplasm in the corner: it will just be me on my semi annual knuckledraggin deficit DT's. If the world hangs together that long, we will see you on the other side.
