I mean, I've bought beer there before, but not whiskey.
Different states have different rules. In VA, I could only buy hard liquor in state owned ABC stores; you could imagine what a CF that is because all employees were state employees and the stores only operated during constrained hours and had small inventories. In TX and TN, there are private sales of stores where liquor is the primary product sold. When I was in Colorado, you could buy hard liquor in any Walgreens and many grocery stores.
ReplyDeleteTo tell the truth, I was shocked when I moved to TX and found out I could buy a bottle of real alcohol on Saturdays in non-state owned stores. I don't know if the rules have relaxed in VA because I left that fascist shithole as soon as I could and have only been back for a few special occasions, mostly funerals and weddings.
Here in Louisiana you can buy beer, wine and most any liquor made in grocery stores, truck stops and convenience stores..... Only catch is sales are prohibited between 2am and 6am...

She has beautiful breast tatoos and when his nuts drop he'll be able to fill in that stach and goatee. Kids and fireworks, sheesh.

In FL Walmart, Publix, et al have separate liquor stores. Open Sundays, too. In SC we have our "Red Dot" stores that sell wine & liquor. No Sunday sales.
ReplyDeleteIn Houston, Texas in the 70s (don't know about now), the convenience stores had to stop selling beer and wine at midnight. The law allowed for an additional hour of sales if the drink was consumed at the store. So there were several stores that had a beer garden out back, filled with people (like us), who were pounding back beer as fast as we could.
ReplyDeleteAnd then we'd drive back home...
