Demanding free fish from Newsom?

The sea lions started moving in at San Carlos Beach last week -- right as the world famous Monterey Car Week was happening.

  1. Saw this on a trip to Cali a few years ago.
Reminded me of a fatty convention I saw in Vegas the year before.

  2. Biologists gone wild. State and federal governments want to recreate population numbers they estimate existed before ebil whyt man. Plus it is a federal felony to harass a pinniped. Even trowing a rock in the general direction of a seal has been prosecuted as a violation of federal law.

For the past say twenty years, not even commercial fisherman are allowed to scare off a pinniped. There are hundreds of stories which would leave you shaking your head at the absurdity.
When seals, sea lions, or elephant seals invade a beach, they prohibit the people from using that beach. Even when that beach is a man made protected beach such as Children's beach in San Diego.
Once the seals have taken a beach, they'll be back next year. And every year after that.

  4. Sea lion scat and skeet everywhere. Take them to Louisiana where they will hunt, trap, kill and eat the damned things. Sell the skins and such.
