The majority of Americans would not advise their family members to join the military, according to a Defense Priorities/YouGov poll released on Thursday.
Only 37% of respondents would encourage their family to serve in the military, while 63% would not, according to the poll. Several branches of the military have been plagued with recruiting and retention problems in recent years as the Pentagon continues to look for solutions.
Told my boys not to do it.
ReplyDeletePlan on hiding my boys in the mountains if the recruiter comes knocking for them.
ReplyDeleteLike that will last any amount of time. And, not a lot of public mountains around anymore.
DeleteThere are plenty of mountain areas to hide. Trust me
DeleteThere are two reasons that would caution young men/women from enlisting. #1 Fauci's jab. #2 D.E.I.
ReplyDelete#3 Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockeed....
Delete#4: Democrats, who tend to start wars and shit on veterans, before, during and after.
DeleteThere will be directive from Pedophile Joe and Cackling Camela soon, making extra accommodations for illegals that were let out of Venezuela prisons to become upstanding US citizens.
ReplyDeleteYep I stopped promoting the services when Obammy started his purge of real leaders. It will be a long time for the services to recover from his evil. It has only continued under his third term too.
ReplyDeleteDo I know of friends kids that have joined, yes. Most these kids are in one of the academy’s and are now experiencing the shift in focus of the service branches. And it’s sickening what I hear from them.
Same here. My family has a tradition of military service At that time I also worked with adolescents and older teens. It was 2009 I started to strongly advise to stay out of mil.
DeleteThe real reason unstated is that the current regime is unelected and unaccountable.
ReplyDeleteGreat uncles, uncles, cousins, dad, me and my brother - someone in the family has/had been in the military since WWII to Korea to Vietnam to the Marine barracks in Lebanon to the USS Cole to the various deserts but not anymore. Multiple Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, a Silver Star and probably well over 100 years of service - done. It's not hard to see why. FJB-FKH.
ReplyDeleteI was in the Navy, stationed in Key West 1966-1968. The owner of the BSA-Yamaha motorcycle store was a retired Navy Chief. One of his favorite expressions was, "If I had a son in the Navy and a daughter in a whorehouse, I'd do everything I could to get my son out."
ReplyDeleteAnd in my Airedale Navy Time, we used to say "I'd rather have a sister in a whorehouse than a brother in the Air Force."
DeleteI will discourage my grandson from enlisting when he comes of age. I will, of course, train him in all the various skills he would get from the military. Luckily, a lot of the older generations in my family are vets. 11B's, 12B's (a lot of these), and a even couple of Navy pukes.
ReplyDeleteThe poll is kind of weird, but then again that's just to be expected...
ReplyDeleteAlso I'd think that 47% of not having anyone in their immediate family who'd ever served would be kind of high. But what do I know, I'm way over in a very different country with a very different system.
Son has said that, like it is today, he'd never have enlisted. And staying out of the reserves to prevent callups is more and more a good decision.
ReplyDeleteExactly why the "greatest Generation" existed only 70+ years ago. All of the gen Xes and Y's are comprised of cowards and grubbers. The word "honor" is not in their vocabulary.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want any of my grandchildren in the military, just saying
ReplyDeleteIf being in under Carter was not enough.
ReplyDeleteI got out in 1980 because they brought in women not able to carry their weight, and other's.
Gave them all the promotions (something about needed 20%) of... shit on the true back bone of the Military.
And now look at what we have.
I have told everyone even considering it don't waste your time.
just remember..when it comes time for someone to say "I'm sorry sir I cannot obey that order"..you want it to be one of us.
ReplyDeleteor the time comes where "hey, we have captured this state of the art tank..who knows how to run it?" and no hands go up.
then you know we shouldn't have surrendered another part of our culture to the left. I mean, we gave them entertainment and education, why not give them the military too? what can go wrong?
I highly recommend Pete Hegseth's book "the War on Warriors" he hits it spot on. Jeff C in NC
ReplyDeleteWhen I advised my son 35 years ago to stay out of the army, it had more to do with him being too much like his mother, who couldn't handle people being in authority over her. I didn't think sullen and pouty would go over well in the Army. 20 years later I kept my mouth shut when he, as a Fire Dept Lieutenant , complained about pouty, whiny subordinates. These days I wouldnt recommend any of my grand kids joining any of the services. For the record, I have no problem with equal opportunity or wherever you need to stick your dick (adults only), but I do have a problem with using the military for social experiments. The sole purpose of the military is to be an expression of American policy. If you need shit broken or killed send the troops.
ReplyDeleteRetired after 35 years in the service. I do not know of anyone who encourages kids to join anymore. Today's military is run by weak, hopeless, unqualified, politically correct DEI losers. True leaders have been forced out. It's going to take years to undo the damage caused by the seditious gay Kenyan commie and his diaper filling dummy, Joe Biden.
