SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- For thousands of Bay Area runners, this year's San Francisco Marathon has been a massive disappointment.
On Tuesday, participants received an email stating that a mistake had caused organizers to miscalculate one of the half marathon courses.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that miles weren't a fixed distance. Silly me.
That's a 4% state tax that governor Screwsem decided to take.
ReplyDeleteSeems like an entitled first world problem...
ReplyDeleteWell, it's San Francisco, so...
ReplyDeleteMaybe they had to recalculate for the up & down hill parts
ReplyDeleteSlope adjustment? LOL
DeleteRace officials unburdened the distance from the past.
ReplyDelete"the course route was measured correctly, but the certification map was drawn incorrectly"
ReplyDeleteSounds like BS to me..........
Ditto
Delete"But for many runners, they think more needs to be done and they're asking for some form of compensation."
ReplyDeleteAH...........now we get down to the real reason for the 'outrage'........gimmee da munnee !
"This is one of the most expensive races out there, it's like $230 to just register for it. "
Excuse me, but did someone hold a gun to your head and force you to pay $ 230 ???
Officials were using common core math. Any answer will do for gov't, except the IRS
ReplyDeleteDEI hires.
ReplyDeleteIt identified as a mile so shut up you racists.
ReplyDeleteIf the race was short you can't use your time as official. That means you can't use your placing to get entrance to the higher level marathons

So the question is "Did you use a different map for the marathon and Why?" The course maps show both the 1/2 and full marathon using the route, unfortunately the maps aren't dated so the ones shown could be old or the 2024 maps have been scrubbed.
ReplyDeleteGive them an $8.78 discount on the next race (for the missing 0.5 mile) and get on with important things.
ReplyDeleteRunning... screw that.
ReplyDeleteif anyone ever sees me running, please look behind me and shoot whoever is chasing me.
ReplyDeleteThank you in advance.
