CHICAGO — A 30-year-old parolee who asked a 14-year-old boy for his gang affiliation shot the teen in the chest before he had a chance to answer, prosecutors said as they charged the man with attempted first-degree murder.
Shot him in the chest and he's not charged with murder? Medical miracles... or pistol calibers must suck... Man stopper? Heck, can't even take down a boy. Glad he survived.... Hope the pric... sorry... parolee gets all that's coming to him.
Last stat I heard when I was a medic was 80% of people shot with pistols live. That stat is probably higher now since trauma care advances and I retired over 10 years ago…and no, caliber does NOT make a difference. One patient we had was shot on the left side of his sternum with a 45acp. Talked to him all the way to the hospital.
I read a article that stated that most soldiers shot front to rear survived, those shot side to side did not. I took it to mean single lung vs both lungs or other dual organs

Had plenty of .22 headshot dudes in my morgue over the years.
