OK I didn't read the article yet, but I just HAD TO SAY this - I had the opportunity to hold, in my very own hands, an honest-to-goodness WW2 Thompson. This was 2 weeks ago and I still have goose bumps. I was surprised at the weight, given the size. But, OH ! what a thrill. Holding a real piece of bang-bang history in my hands. I looked them up on gun broker and a legit WW2 era Thompson starts at around $20k and they go up from there, depending on condition.
ReplyDeleteI went to an indoor range with a friend in the mid-'90s and after pistol practice decided to splurge on firing a magazineful of rounds from an Uzi. It'd been since I was a young soldier 15 years before that I'd fired anything full auto. The range had several automatics to choose from and when I said I wanted the Uzi the young dork behind the counter asked why I wanted to fire "that old thing" when they had newer guns available. I said, "It's a piece of history."
DeleteAlways wondered how in the hell B&C got ahold of BAR's. Now I know, thanks.
