Worries of being uprooted from their jobs have returned for Laura Dodson and other federal workers, who have long been the economic backbone of the nation's capital and its suburbs.
During former President Donald Trump 's administration, her office under the U.S. Department of Agriculture was told it would be moving. About 75 people were going to be relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, Dodson said, but less than 40 actually moved. A rushed process that failed to consider the need to find homes, jobs for spouses and schools for children prompted some retirements, she said, and some took other federal jobs, hurting the agency in the end.

So quit, then. Nobody will miss you.
They can't quit because they have no skills that are needed in the private sector job market.. These high paying, great benefits jobs require actual work something government employees don't have

DeleteI like Trump's plan for a federal reset especially since I hear he's recruited Elon Musk to implement the great flush.
ReplyDeleteDo we have enough toilet paper ?

DeleteMaybe if those pencil pushing diversity hires had to live amongst the folks their pronouncements affected, they might think differently about some things.
ReplyDeleteWhat?!? You want them to *live* in fly over country? You're going to make it harder to go to those industry sponsored (wink wink) educational symposiums. They won't be nearly as nice to go to in fly over country.
DeleteHave you *seen* Des Moines in the winter?? Horrors!!
ReplyDeleteThis really highlights one of the 'problems' facing a productive society... As Anon says above, most of these people can't compete well in the private sector, and they are absolutely convinced they are their job are essential or the world itself would stop spinning on it's axis.
ReplyDeleteAnd they're about 1/3rd of the country, look it up. So of course they're going to vote to whomever has the best chance of their continued employment (right up until the point they can retire with full pension).
didn't need them to start with, don't need most of em now!
ReplyDeleteFederal "workers".
ReplyDeleteOxymoron, much?
Be interesting if it happens. Who loses their job - the low paid government worker who's superior delegated their responsibility on them ? Or does the superior lose their position due to 'too many chiefs - not enough indians' ? I know a lot of public school administrators who SHOULD be removed because of that alone. Delegating their work is all they do.
ReplyDeleteManagement stays - because. Low-end support workers (maintenance, secys, etc) stay - because. Leaving only those in the middle - who do the work - to be "laid off".
DeleteSeen Des Moines? I've lived there for 40-ish years. As to the Febbies, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
ReplyDeleteHeard "Learn To Code" is an option, like as told to coal miners.
ReplyDeleteAll government jobs should be within walking distance to a bus station, new president new location .
ReplyDeletePlease don't send them to Kansas City, we already have a few thousand too many federal employees in this town!!
ReplyDeleteI can't see any reason to think that attitudes and behavior would change if they were sent out here with the rest of us. Got enough damn Blue immigrants already, some of whom may actually sort of conservative.
ReplyDeleteUse them to replenish the central/south American population that's been moving to Norte.
ReplyDeleteCC
Just tell them they are being transferred to a locale with better weather than DC.
Delete"...federal workers, who have long been [vampires]..."
ReplyDeleteI hold nothing against the government agents.
I think they all should have an island someplace, so they can scribble redundant contradictory 'laws' for each other.
Retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. We never had a full compliment of staff that worked with inmate population, but ALWAYS had a full compliment of Administration. Useless to accomplish any mission. 90% of government jobs should be eliminated and 90% of Agencies should be eliminated. Slash and burn
ReplyDeleteExit interview should involve a guillotine.
ReplyDeleteThe downside - you would be metastasizing the problem.
ReplyDeleteIt’s not like he’s proposing to send them to Hell.
ReplyDeleteI know I’d be tempted to.
As someone that spent 22 years being sent where and when the .gov thought I needed to be, (with no option to "quit" instead) my heart bleeds for you poor mistreated bureaucrats.
