  1. All those years a world of black and white gone in an instant. I've always wondered if those glasses show the colors we see or if they are distorted in some way. Regardless, that's pretty amazing.

  7. A friend of mine is red green color blind. In Iraq it enabled him to spot the enemy faster. While trees appeared as gray, camouflage uniforms looked bright orange.
He got disqualified from the cav when they realized he was color blind, but by then he was career and they couldn't discharge him so they moved him to retention. He would go visit units getting ready for patrol and accompany them. Yes, he likes to fight.
In one instance they got hit, he got next to a newby who wasn't shooting because he didn't see anything and spotted for him . In the after action debrief They realized the kid had killed over half the enemy dead.
When asked how, he said I just shot where the sergeant told me to shoot.
His wife, a kindly sweet lady has more combat kills than he does. She was an MP.

  9. I have red-green color blindness. I can see red, i can see green. I spent 30 years as a tractor trailer driver and always passed my DOT physical. My uncle and I used to hunt together. He wore a bright red Woolrich coat. When he was in the woods, I couldn't see that coat. I made him wear an orange vest over it( this was before it was required).

  10. My ex-wife's father and brother were both colorblind. She told me that when she was a little girl, she and her mother had picked out some pink paint for her bedroom, and they left her father and brother to do the actual painting. Unfortunately, they hadn't bought enough paint for all the walls. I think everyone can guess what happened after that.
