ReplyDeleteBeen listening to him forever.
ReplyDeleteHe was in this movie called "Lone Star" some years ago. It's a long film but I gotta tell ya, they captured what South Texas was like when I was growing up there. I was living in Atlanta when it came it out and it was giving me flashbacks.
ReplyDeleteOut of all of the movies he's been in, "Lone Star" and "The Tracker" (An old HBO movie), are my two favorites.
DeleteI've been listening to him since the "Silver Tongued Devil" album came out.
I didn't agree much with his "later life" politicking, so I normally prefer the older stuff.
Same thing with John Prine, who along with Merle, I started listening to about the same time.
Cisco Pike is the first movie I saw him in.
ReplyDeleteVaya con Dios, Cisco Pike. First one I saw him in, as well.

His album ( 1971) 'The Silver Tongued Devil And I ' is an excellent sample of his writing-composing.
