The driver of a sewage vacuum tanker truck suffered fatal injuries when his vehicle overturned during a collision with a small SUV in Orange County Monday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred at the intersection of West Sunflower Avenue & Fairview Road, near the 405 Freeway, the Costa Mesa Police Department posted on X, formerly Twitter.

We had 2 guys die in a manure truck this summer. They should have known better too, they were volunteer firefighters. The tank itself was empty and one went in to work on something, and passed out due to lack of oxygen. I'm guessing that the gasses produced in there displaced the oxygen. Anyways his buddy saw him passed out and went in to rescue him. He soon passed out and that was it.
ReplyDeleteThat happens at least once a year at the dairies in the San Joaquin Valley where I came from. There will be a couple guys working out at the shit pit, one will be overcome by the methane gas and pass out, then his buddy will jump in to help and die too.
DeleteEvery. Fucking. Year.
Also happens quite frequently in the chemical industry due to the prevalence of nitrogen inerting of most vessels. The #1 rule they teach - if you see someone laid out, don't try to go rescue them !
