EMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Some mail for homeowners in East Memphis seems to have reached the wrong address after being found in the dumpster of an Ace Hardware.
A manager at the chain’s East Memphis location says they saw a USPS postal worker dump bags of mail into their dumpster Friday at around 5 p.m.
(shakes head)
ReplyDeleteAnd the USPS wonders why it is losing customers to people who get their important communications via email rather than letter, and why FedEx and UPS and other overnight services are handling the bulk of next-day deliveries. Of course, the junk mail senders still use USPS because the rate to send presorted junk mail is really really cheap.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there were no mail-in ballots in there, right? RIGHT????
ReplyDeleteYup, just practicing for the up and coming.
Deleteabout 90% of the mail I get daily is junk mail. But the other 10% is stuff I need and it would be a pain in the butt if I missed something important. My suggestion, while this is WAY down on the priority list of things this country needs to fix, is to eliminate the reduced cost incentives for mass mailings - but please start with the ones for political campaigns first.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't carry mail in East Memphis either.
ReplyDeleteOr be anywhere near the place.
Maybe he was driven crazy by all the political ads. I see my mail carrier some days and he wants the election to be over even more than I do.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, republican mail in ballots ?
ReplyDeleteJD
There was a guy at work (briefly) that had gotten out of the Army and hooked up with a job at the USPS delivering mail. He said he was fired for dumping mail in the trash and skipping picking up mail from public mailboxes because as he put it, "I was tired and wanted to go home" but the best part was when he said, "I dint know dey was following me around the first coupla weeks..."
ReplyDelete- WDS
Has anyone seen the demographic majority of USPS workers lately? I rest my case.
ReplyDeletehell, I wonder if they even do a I.Q. test ? I mean really we have had some really dumb/stupid or "I just don't give a shit" mail people here of late. say the last 6 years now. before that we had a Marine. the mail was in your P.O> box by 9 or 9.30 at the latest. now? we lucky if it gets in your box by 3 pm. or if you even get it at all.
DeleteI used to think the DMV was bad. although there is a LOT of dead wood there.
Privatize the Postal Service. The USPS has been destroyed by affirmative action, union strength, and DEI. A neighbor, who volunteered for second tour in Vietnam, came home, went to college during the day, sorted mail at night. Finished his worthwhile degree about the same time the economy tanked and he was promoted to Delivery dude. His entire career he was passed over for promotion in favor of uneducated blacks, homos, lesbians, non-veterans, and those who had to be protected by the union. Privatize the USPS.
ReplyDeleteWhen I see these stories of mail dumped or drop off boxes burned, I want to know... what zip code or neighborhood? In the hood or in a "Deplorables" neighborhood?
ReplyDeleteStarker here,
ReplyDeleteThey said the tossed mail was collected by the trash hauler! Not one person rescued that mail. That's just as bad as the hopefully ex-postal worker's deed.
Messing with the mail is a federal offense, even my mailbox knows that.
DeleteThe postal worker of course should be fired with no benefits. But the Union will protect this POS. Only ever met one union official that under stood that the unions responsibility was to provide a trained workforce that would earn its keep. She was with IBEW at the time. A well run union would assist in firing this person.
ReplyDeleteThe real problem here was that the people who were supposed to pick up the discarded mail was late. They no doubt were to pick it up, and then go through it to sort out the mail in ballots or the ballots that were sent to people who couldn't vote in person, in order to send the Democrat votes in, and burn the Republican ballots.
ReplyDeleteWe live within the radius of destruction of the new South Atlanta (Palmetto) distribution center. It's gotten some better lately but sometimes they still play with packages, sending them back and forth and sometimes to another state. I grew up near the Atlanta Airport and I can guess about the constitution of the local work force.
ReplyDeleteIt's a felony people yet these postal employees do not get fired or serve jail time.
