How the 2025 Social Security COLA compares to recent years

The Social Security Administration has announced a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment for recipients in 2025, the smallest such increase since 2021.

On average, Social Security retirement benefits will increase by about $50 per month starting in January, a minor increase for most.

  1. The system that calculates the increases is a scam, inflation has NOT cooled or decreased in any way. Foods costs have skyrocket, dry goods have skyrocket, utilities have gone up considerably.. none have come down any at all..... Hundreds of millions spent on illegal cockroaches, another couple hundred million given to foreign governments, several billion given to that POS zelinski but $50 for taxpayers, It's all bullshit..

    3. To put it another way, it doesn't matter what the RATE of inflation is now, the prices have gone up and aren't coming down. They'll probably never come down. This is the new normal.

  3. I've been sucking on the S.S. tit for years. I'm not complaining about the 2.5% mainly because I can't do a bloody thing about it except get my blood pressure elevated. I got better things to be concerned about.

  4. My benefit payment went up by $50 and my Part D premium went up $30.

    Net gain, 1%.
