Wait..... WHAT???

Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill on Saturday that would have changed the way cars were manufactured in California by the start of the next decade.

Senate Bill 961 would have required all new cars, starting in 2030, to be equipped with speed-limiting technology to alert drivers when they are going too fast.

Oh fuck off. If people are speeding, then go out and enforce the fucking law.

    1. Or ticket the idiots who drive too slow and impede traffic. Moving too slow is as dangerous as driving a safe speed that is higher than the government imposed limit.

    2. Like my road. It's posted at 45mph, but it's a 65mph road and you only have to slide into the other lane to keep from hitting the ditch maybe twice in a 3 mile stretch.

  2. New technology? I know the 66 Dodge Monaco had a needle you could set on the speedometer. If you set it at fifty mph and you went fifty-one a buzzer went off and would not stop until you slowed down or changed the setting.

  3. I need a warning, specifically a message to my cellphone while watching a movie or just browsing the web that I am being an ijiot. Except of course when I am watching a LIVE impromptu interview with Lalala, because that surely means that the end of the world is nigh and I can continue to be that ijiot until the sun explodes.

  6. Since when is anybody dumb enough to manufacture cars in California? Even Elon Musk pulled out.

  7. It's because of the women. Women, because of their nature, are risk averse and want everybody to be safe. They think that if one human life can be saved by inflicting a monstrous tyranny on us all, then that is a worthwhile path to follow.

The Covid bullshit is a good example of how that plays out in real life.

We live in a stupid, feminised society.

  8. One thing missing in this proposed new law is the funding dynamic. Where's the alternate source of revenue coming from to fill the state's coffers when their speeding ticket money dries up?

  9. Don’t worry, they will have plenty of time to implement this plus many more onerous laws once they are returned to office.

  10. It is computer controlled, it can and will be hacked. Ill bet the hacker can even make it report that you were driving exactly the speed limit. Just a complete waste of money and effort.

  11. At this rate, pretty soon, Californians will have one law for every one person!
