GOP Pushes for Nuclear Energy, Natural Gas to Combat the Left’s ‘Green New Deal’

While the Democratic Party has often controlled the narrative on the issue of climate change, the Republicans have been promoting alternative options that they argue are more cost-effective and could improve the environment while at the same time strengthening America’s energy independence.

Democratic elected officials have put up some solutions to climate change such as the “Green New Deal” and staying in the Paris Climate Accord, the international treaty that has a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  1. For the 1st 100 days, I want to hear nothing but drilling for oil. During that time, I want planning for nuke plants to start and site prep. I want 200 new nuclear reactors started before Trump leaves office! Electricity needs to be so cheap that every company will want it's factories here!

    That is the push behind the SMR/AMR talking heads. The idea that you can have on-site power with no down time due to outside substation issues.

    As with all things, regulatory hurdles are the majority of the problem. The other is the fact that these RX startups are chock full of newly minted engineers that have no concept of Quality or Safety. To them, the bolt I buy from the hardware store is “good enough” and cheap. Cheap being the main selling point.
    No folks, we need a complete culture shift in fabrication as well as for the average citizen.

  3. Again, from across The Pond. Encourage those companies developing Small Modular Reactors.
    When all those wind turbines grind to a halt and become archaeological puzzles, and China turns off the Solar Panel supply and existing ones are smashed by hailstorms the World is going to be crying out for reliable energy. Germany first in the queue. (Trans Pond puzzle word.)
