It’s not always about being censored or not. Today’s algorithms include a range of tools that affect searchability and findability. For example, the Joe Rogan interview with Donald Trump racked up an astonishing 34 million views before YouTube and Google tweaked their search engines to make it hard to discover, while even presiding over a technical malfunction that disabled viewing for many people. Faced with this, Rogan went to the platform X to post all three hours.

They Are Scrubbing the Internet Right Now
Instances of censorship are growing to the point of normalization. Despite ongoing litigation and more public attention, mainstream social media has been more ferocious in recent months than ever before. Podcasters know for sure what will be instantly deleted and debate among themselves over content in gray areas. Some like Brownstone have given up on YouTube in favor of Rumble, sacrificing vast audiences if only to see their content survive to see the light of day.

Trump's looking good 1 day before the election and that's triggered the final solution. Big Brother time is NOW and there's nothing we can do about it.
ReplyDeleteNot just videos are scrubbed on YouTube. Comments are also obviously censored.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a free market type. But not any more. When people like Google have a near monopoly on search, a near monopoly on video, and a near monopoly on advertisement, and then use their power to change and "frame" the narrative to their liking -- they need to be broken up.
When they are able to cancel someone's e-mail account -- locking them out of their phone and all of the websites attached to either the phone or the email -- simply because of a difference of opinion, the monopoly needs to be destroyed.
These are not the actions of a free market, of a willing buyer and seller, equally informed about the deal, rather they are those of a corporatist / government codependency, in other words, a Fascist economic system, a "public - private partnership".

My beef with youtube ne google is that when i search for something i get three hits, followed by 4-5 rows of abslute garbage, and if I really want to find what I'm looking for, I have to scroll to the very bottom of the results, which are....the actual results I was looking for.
ReplyDeletei've never clicked on a Biden/Harris/dumbass or religious puff peice, yet I continually get 'Meidas Touch', John Stewart, a fake CNN china, and tons of Muslim Indians reading religious doggerel under the title of Transparent Try On Outfis for Fall.
All I want is 60s-80s rock videos, 70s-80s comedians, heavy machinery videos, and videos of 18 year old women in skimpy clothing.
The "scrubbin' of the 'net" is a real thing. As innocuous as my posts usually are, several have been deleted recently. Of course, that only encourages me to push the envelope even more.
ReplyDeleteAmericans are the most heavily propagandized people on the planet, and it shows. It's not always what they let you see, but just as often what's hidden from you.
ReplyDeleteWe're also the most heavily medicated. Coincidence?
DeleteI finally managed to find a print copy of an animal husbandry book of which I have a "link" to a "digital" copy of that may evaporate at any time. Cost me $90.00 and some change but it will never say "Sorry, the page you are looking for does not exist."
ReplyDeleteCall me old school but I love the printed word. I scour flea markets, garage, and estate sales for books. I even scored an Engineering and Mining Journal 1956 Guidebook and Buying Directory for $2.00 a couple weeks ago.
The right kind of books won't lie to you, or get scrambled at the whim of some Wiki warrior.
