Trump's mass deportation plan looms over migrant families in California's Central Valley

The details of what a mass deportation under President-elect Donald Trump could look like are still rolling out, but for undocumented families who have been in California's Central Valley for decades, they're worried.

In San Joaquin County county, agriculture is number one. There are roughly 340,000 farmworkers in the county, and a majority of them are undocumented.

  1. Not gonna happen. Trump says a lot of cool stuff (“Because you’d be in jail,” “we’re gonna build a wall and Mexico will pay for it!”) that (sadly) never actually get done.

    1. And "I have a team in Hawaii looking into Obama's birth certificate, you won't believe what they're finding!" Welllllllllll---

  2. Well, goodbye. Maybe, instead of breaking the law for decades, they should have applied to stay legally.

  3. If you have an employer to sponsor you, after decades, shouldn't be a problem.

  4. Trump's going to go after the violent criminal element of the illegal aliens from day one. However using the term "migrant" doesn't mitigate the fact they, both violent or benign worker bees, all broke U.S. Federal law. They are all law breakers and emotional reacting should not come into play.

  5. Since California is trying to get rid of the central valley farmers anyway (taking away their water rights), the migrant farm workers won't really be required anyway.

  6. One question that is bothering me: they have been illegal in the United States "for decades".
Why have they never attempted to become legal?

Apparently there was never enough benefit to bother nor enough disadvantage to bother.

Oh, and one more question: the article says that they "pay their taxes". Seriously, how does someone without a social security number pay their federal taxes?

  7. Three strike law - no exceptions:

    1) No arrests for any reason. No DUIs, criminal mischief, drug dealing - zero. After legal system finishes with you - out of the country for Life.

    2) No USA public assistance. Period. Until you are a legal US citizen, you are not to accept any tax payer public paid charity. School lunch is not part of this is local schools pay off for everybody. No housing - phone - EBT.

    3) Once ruling is made, you have a week to pack up and be ready to move out of country. Accept the decision and when relocated to other country, can begin legal process of becoming legal.

I think more than fair. Some countries will not allow you to stay without having a job already lined up. They don't want to increase their welfare roles either.

  8. I don't think we actually have a news agency in this country.

A "migrant worker" should have an H1-B Visa, which allowed them to be in this country legally, and to work. Calling a Foreign National who breached our border anything else is gobbledygook invented by attorneys and special interests.

  9. Maybe if the government would penalize the farmers for hiring these people things would change, but I don't see that happening

  10. The correct legal term is "illegal alien ", not to be confused with immigrants. Word-bending fucking idiots. If you came into the United States illegally, you have committed a felony on day one, and should be treated like a felon.
