A 71-year-old man in Texas with a dangerous habit of getting behind the wheel while drunk will likely spend the rest of his days behind bars after being convicted of driving while intoxicated for the sixth time.
Noticed in the comments someone saying that now he's in prison he will sober up and not get drunk again. I'm thinking "Really, you've never heard of hooch?"
My Aunt, one of my Mums sisters, and her granddaughter were killed when their car was hit by a drunk driver. Her husband, who had been driving their car, woke up in hospital a week later, was told what had happened and died on the spot from the horror of the news.
So I have no sympathy for these murderous motherfuckers. They should be shot in the back of the head, and their bodies dumped by the road as a warning to others.
The irritating thing is if a drunk kills a family, he only gets intox manslaughter. Might do 5 years. Might only do 2 years with "time served" while waiting trial. So if I kill 5 or 6 people no problemo slap on the wrist, but drive drunk 3rd no injury/deaths and get life? How fuked up is that?
Is this in the same state? Texas has harsher penalties for many crimes; anyone know what the typical sentence for vehicular manslaughter while driving drunk is in Texas?
To me, a life sentence for "hasn't killed anyone _yet_" seems harsh, but 6 drunk-driving convictions says that he's not going to stop until he's dead or locked up. As a believer in freedom, I can see sending him up for a few years in prison each time he gets caught, and otherwise wait and see if he kills himself or someone else first, but be aware of the cost we're choosing.
Of course laws are made to control us rather than protect us. If a man doesn't pay child support he will lose his professional license to make a living(why women shouldn't vote, removes incentive to be "unhappy"). If the government wants your land to assist a highway and other "growth for the economy" they will take your land. So at a point take away the ability for this man to own a car & the inability to own any further vehicles except a bicycle. No scooters.

ReplyDeleteGet drunk in the slammer? Probably, but at least he won't kill innocent folks on the road.

ReplyDeleteMofo can’t seem to stay off the road when he gets hammered so put him away. Wonder if blm looters would get the same treatment.
DeleteIt's Texas. Looters shouldn't worry about jail time, they should worry about being shot.
DeleteGood Texas justice!
ReplyDeletePeople who drink and drive over and over again should be jailed
