Whoops, my bad

A suspect search in San Joaquin County nearly ended in tragedy early Thursday morning when a vigilante allegedly shot at deputies.

  1. IMO, vigilantes are a symptom of a failed system. If "trained law enforcement" were actually doing their job and keeping criminals in check then the common rabble wouldn't resort to doing it themselves. Communities are plenty capable of handling criminals, and self-policing looks more viable and necessary each passing year.

The article doesn't make it clear if the actual criminals were caught, meaning more vigilantes are needed.

    1. *If* your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle.

They're not "common rabble" they're goddam citizens exactly the same as cops. The only difference is cops are paid to apply themselves full-time to the duties and responsibilities of a citizen. So if the cops aren't applying themselves to what they're being paid to do it is the right and duty of the citizenry to act on their own behalf until the cops stop fucking about.

  2. "This incident underscores the vital importance of allowing trained law enforcement to handle dangerous situations...«

Yeah, right. We've read/seen plenty of situations how well law was enforced.

  5. The sheriff’s deputies were taking cover? From what? They were sitting on their asses while the perps were hightailing it out of the area.
