You might want to try for say, maybe once a week?

VALLEY BROOK, Okla. (KFOR) — A new homeowner is upset after receiving a citation for something he says he took care of weeks ago.

A Valley Brook resident received a warning for having too tall grass so he cut it, but a month later he received a citation.

I never have been much of a lawn care kind of guy, but during the warmer months here I have no choice but to mow at least once every 6-7 days or I'll have a pasture instead of a yard.

  2. I like the smell of a fresh cut lawn or field. So I've got the lawn then I also bush hog about 25 acres of field. Smells good and looks nice to boot. Course I only hog three times a year between May and Nov.

  3. As with many things in life it depends. I've mowed my lawn less frequently than usual this year simply because around these parts, I haven't seen a year with less rain than this one.

    1. It slowed way down this summer for me too. A lot of times I mowed not because it got too tall, but because it got too scraggly looking.

  4. I used to hate mowing. Then we moved to our new land, and I kind of enjoy mowing the 2 acre field next to the house. It becomes kind of peaceful, to just run back and forth, only worried about keeping next to the last row.

    1. I've got about a 75 yard stretch of 60 degree slope out by the road that I have to mow with a push mower, then about 3 acres I can do with a zero-turn. Takes me about 3 hours just for the mowing alone.

    2. 60 degrees, wirecutter? Sounds like that only 30 degrees away from a vertical cliff. 60%, maybe?

    3. It is damned near vertical. It tears the hell out of my knees and hips pushing that mower, but it's easier than trying to weedeat it.

    4. Swing by Home Depot and rent some mexicans.

    5. Would it work easier to stand on top of the slope and let the mower down and pull it up with a rope? Also, if it's that steep, will it interfere with the crankcase lubrication? Or is it a 2-cycle and you add oil to the fuel?

I've got a 30 degree slope (about 1 foot rise in 2 foot run) at the front of my property, the part people see from the street. I figured that the little wheels on self-propelled mowers would just spin on that slope, so I bought the lightest mower with a motor and just push it up. It's hell on my knees, but it's only about 45 feet wide by 10 high, and then mowing the rest of the yard is easy. There are just three things keeping me in shape anymore: mowing that grass in the summer, shoveling snow in the winter, and walking a dog that can't learn not to run full speed to the end of the leash every time he sees or scents anything interesting.

  5. If you don't want to cut grass either get into an apartment, townhouse or get out in the country where your nearest neighbor is not right up your ass..

  6. Granted, there's probably more important things for the local LEO's to be doing, but the homeowner doesn't look like the brightest bulb in the pack, either.

  7. When you can see the seed heads on the grass it's past time to mow.
