Neighbors on Detroit's west side grew nervous about two young teens that had been sleeping outside on a porch, using the area to rest.

Hell, whenever I was a kid I 'camped' outside every chance I got - in my yard, a friend's yard, in a patch of nearby woods, I didn't care.
And as an adult I've slept on the porch a time or two, but that was mostly because I was too fucked up to get my keys in the door.
Staying intentionally out during the summer here - naw man. Too damn hot and humid. I have a foam mattress I could lay in the bed of the truck but I'm guessing barking dogs and curious cats would wake and keep me up. Now in cold weather (60's and below), that would be worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteDeToilet. Maybe the kids didn't want to deal with the roaches trying to crawl in their ears and up their noses while they slept indoors.
ReplyDeleteI have been known to threaten to go out and spend some time in my "classic" '02 Durango. Hey, leather seats, decent stereo, A/C or heat. What's not to like.
ReplyDeleteBefore I read the article, I assumed that the boys were homeless. When I was working foster care in and around Detroit I dealt with a number of homeless teens. Being homeless in Michigan in the winter is hard time,
