MODESTO, Calif. — A Modesto man was arrested on Thursday, accused of distributing hateful graffiti through areas of Stanislaus County, the sheriff's office said.
On Wednesday, Sheriff Jeff Dirkse said they were aware of the disturbing graffiti that was found in a South Modesto neighborhood and in the community of Grayson, which included offensive racial slurs.

So how do I know it was directed towards Mexicans? Because South Modesto is a Mexican neighborhood and the town of Grayson is almost 100% Mexican. I stopped off in Grayson about 40 years ago to buy a pack of cigarettes and the woman in front of me was paying in pesos, I shit you not. I had never seen Mexican paper money before and thought it was a new design of food stamps.
hateful, disturbing, offensive, racial, these constitute chargeable crimes?
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly is the criminal charge? Graffiti I can understand, but are there laws against the other stuff? How does that not violate the 1A?
I am all for keeping a civil tongue but there should not be laws against saying mean things.
Remember, every law is potentially enforced at the point of a gun.
This Mexican says send their Mexican assessment back.
ReplyDeleteWhat a anti-American county!
ReplyDeleteThis comment tells a lot "Officials said Rodriguez had a prior arrest for violation of a civil harassment order. That stemmed from incidents reported to authorities two years ago in which Rodriguez used racial slurs and derogatory language toward his Hispanic neighbors"
Being held on 150k bail, probably more than real criminals.
The county doesn't make laws, it's the state. Stanislaus county is actually pretty conservative. Also, all of wirecutter's recent stories about his earlier days take place there and it sounds like it's very pro-American.
DeleteWe melted down several hundred thousand pounds of Mexican Pesos, when they changed to a new type. The had representatives watching us for the first few days, until they decided that our small city didn't have enough to occupy their time.
ReplyDeleteI have one or two of them laying around somewhere, I just can't find them.
Was the disturbing graffiti in English or Spanish?
ReplyDeleteI lived in the Rio Grand valley for a time (near Santa Fe). The "Mexicans" in the area intensely disliked the "wetbacks" (their term) and were proud to be American. The anglos not so much; mostly pieces of what you'd expect.
